We are living in uncertain times. But for most of us reading this, that uncertainty doesn’t mean that we, or our children, will go to bed hungry. Fix Forward’s mission (see About Us) involves creating opportunities for contractors from low-income to grow successful businesses. Besides continuing our support for them we felt compelled to launch the Mothers in Need campaign to support the most vulnerable.

How it started

At the beginning of May, I heard a story that broke me. A friend related how a 7-month pregnant woman was turned away from a food parcel collection point. She hadn’t eaten in four days. Thousands of pregnant women and mothers of newborns don’t qualify for any support from the state because they are asylum seekers or undocumented immigrants.

We have set up this interim relief programme to provide support to these women. This is a desperate time when they, and those around them, have no possibility to earn an income. Can you imagine not being able to feed yourself or your new baby?

Our partner in this programme is The Zoe Project. For the last 19 years they have been assisting pregnant women and new mothers with antenatal and mother and baby courses, counselling and birth support. They will help identify suitable women to benefit from this relief.

Many of us are giving to multiple programmes already. For those of us who can, we need to dig deeper. We can all do more. We must do more.

– Josh Cox, Founder CEO

“The Zoe Project team educates, loves and encourages these new moms to believe in themselves and to believe that there is hope in living in a new community surrounded by adversities. But one thing The Zoe Project is unable to do is to support these vulnerable women and their newborns financially. It is our privilege to work alongside Fix Forward provide this security. Together we can make a difference in our community.”

Tracey Aitken, Founder of The Zoe Project
