“The biggest thing that Fix Forward taught me is to see the bigger picture” – Rashied
Learning to be business minded
“Fix Forward taught me to be business minded and think about the future. They encouraged me to have big goals and plan ahead” says Rashied. Rashied has been with Fix Forward for just under a year. During that time, he’s grown immensely. Not only has Rashied registered his business, but he has successfully ventured into the world of advertising.
“I never really thought advertising was important. I thought the quality of my work and making the client happy was the only thing I needed to do. And yes, that is important but like I say Fix Forward is helping me grow and I have so much more clients now that I started advertising” says Rashied.
Rashied’s latest project was doing the electrical work and built-in cupboards for a new hookah lounge opening in Sea point. The client tasked Rashied with the difficult brief of needing a well-lit environment that was still cosy and warm. In this project Rashied’s creativity really shined through with his “forest of lights” idea that is pictured.
Collaboration and community
This project was one of the many projects where Rashied teamed up with another Fix Forward contractor, Gamidul (https://fixforward.com/gamidul-planting-the-seed/ ). We often think of our training courses and workshops as collaborative spaces where our contractors can support one another. This partnership is a very direct manifestation of that support and community that we strive to foster.
“I ran my own business which was Ismaeel services and he ran his own business which was Wiresmart. So what happened was when work was a bit quiet for one of us we would go work for the other one – just to help each other out… Working together also helps our clients – to give them everything in one because the client likes to deal with one company. So now they can deal with one company that can do their electrical work, their built-in-cupboards, their construction whatever they need” says Rashied who now regularly teams up with electrician Gamidul.
